Emeer is a successful dressage competitor, despite his amateur rider. During the 1997 competition year, Emeer earned a 72.6% score in Fourth Level! His passage has come very easily, and he has demonstrated a natural talent for piaffe as well. Jumping ability is in his bloodlines, as Emeer demonstrated when he successfully completed his Trakehner performance requirement in 1992. Never having any previous jumping training, Emeer competed at the Novice Level after only nine days of training with eventer Michael Goedfrey! The pair was first after dressage, and entered the cross country phase in a drizzling rain. Emeer had never been asked to jump bushes before, and stopped at the first fence. The second time at the fence he went over, and cleanly jumped everything else on the course. His stadium round was clean, and he would have won his first event were it not for that first cross-country fence! |

| Once in a Lifetime ... (a personal story) | |
| Home Page | I never wanted a Stallion. Sure, I wanted a stunning horse, with great
movement and talent so I could reach for my dreams as an amateur dressage rider. I also
wanted a pet, that could live at a boarding stable - I did not own a farm. I set out to
find the perfect horse. Of course, the only way to afford a good horse was to buy young.
After six months of searching I met Emeer. The day I rode him was his second day under saddle, and everything came naturally to him. He was gentle under saddle, and naturally went round. His gaits at the end of a lunge line were incredible. My trainer said, "this is the one." A deal was made. His importers, Middleburg Equestrian Center , would take him to the Trakehner stallion approval as they had planned, then I would take him home. Approval is granted to so few horses that I hardly gave it a thought. Emeer was approved. I brought home this young colt, and thought hard about what to do. I decided that he was my pet and riding horse first. I would keep him a stallion only if his manners stayed appropriate for his purpose, and I would not stand him at stud. I'd seen too many stallions come back from the breeding farm as fire-breathing dragons that were barely manageable and made unpredictable mounts. I soon learned that I had an incredible
horse. Everything came naturally to him under saddle, from basic frame to lateral
movements. His manners were exemplary. I would have to convince each boarding stable
throughout the years to accept a stallion on a trial basis, but he would quickly become a
barn favorite. Wherever we stable, we seem to accumulate a fan club that comes to
see him school and train, and I don' t honestly know how many carrots he got in a
day when I was not there. I will probably never again own a finer friend or mount: Emeer is
a once in a lifetime horse. Since then Emeer has successfully bred by shipped semen, further proving his potency. I now realize the importance of contributing Emeer's bloodlines, abilities, and personality to future generations, and shipped semen is available to a limited booking of quality mares. If you are interested in an opportunity to breed your mare to Emeer and add this incredible lineage to your breeding program, please contact me by selecting e-mail from the menu to the left. |
